Hypnosis to Quit Smoking and How to Avoid Seeing a Bad Hypnotist

06 Jul

There’s so much news these days about not only how dangerous it is to smoke but now it’s becoming illegal to smoke in most places. There is a greater need for ways for people to stop smoking. More and more people are turning to hypnosis to quit smoking.

It is said that all hypnosis is self hypnosis and that the hypnotist can’t make you do something that you won’t normally do. There is some truth to those statements and some untruths. Hypnosis to quit smoking is an effective way for many people to quit smoking, but not all of them. So there are some things you need to be aware of if you want to get the most out of your sessions and avoid the danger of not getting what you want.

Hypnosis uses your imagination in a way that trains you to focus on what you can accomplish rather than what you are afraid will happen. Most smokers are afraid they will have trouble quitting smoking because they failed in previous attempts. A well trained hypnotist will recognize that fear in their client if it’s there and address it so that it doesn’t become a factor.

Some smokers are what can be described as emotional smokers who use cigarettes as a way of dealing with their feelings. This type of smoker needs the services of the hypnotist trained in advanced techniques so that those needs are addressed properly. It’s highly unlikely that an inexperienced hypnotist will have the tools necessary to help the emotional smoker. And it’s not always simple to figure out what type of smoker the person is until they are in session using hypnosis to quit smoking.

Working with an inexperienced hypnotist is probably the number one way for you to fail at getting your results. But how do you identify an inexperienced hypnotist? One way is to interview them about their hypnosis to quit smoking practice before agreeing to work with them. Asking them questions about how long they’ve been working with clients, how often they see smokers. What type of specialty do they focus on. These are the questions you need answers to before working with your hypnotist.

Answers like, I’ve been involved in hypnosis, or I’ve been studying hypnosis to quit smoking for X amount of years, could be misleading. Ask for specifics. What year were you certified? Are you certified? By what organization? Do you have an established facility that you work out of?

A good indicator of the experience of the hypnotist is how much they charge. I know many smokers are looking to get the best “deal” when they choose their hypnotist but this strategy might work against the smoker. A newly trained hypnotist will look to get clients to practice on in an effort to see if the stuff they learned in their online training or weekend course works. And they usually do this by charging very little for their sessions, or offering them for free.

You would probably be as disappointed in your new inexperienced hypnotist as you would be in having your transmission worked on by the neighborhood high school kid who works part time pumping gas at the service station.

So get involved in choosing which hypnotist you want to work with, and don’t be put off by the cost of working with a well trained professional. It’s probably just a fraction of what you are already committed to spending on cigarettes for the year. And whatever you spend on a poorly trained or inexperienced person is way too much. Remember – hypnosis to quit smoking is an investment that pays dividends in real money savings year in and year out.

The cost of hypnosis and hypnotherapy vary depending on your location, the popularity of the therapist, and the length and nature of the sessions you wish to purchase.  Don’t go for the cheap option! Take the free consultation. These consultations are designed so that you can make a choice as to whether the hypnotist is the right person for you or not. It’s his/her job to convince you of that. A good start is to experience hypnosis through a carefully chosen audio recording where you can experience, in the comfort of your own home or office, the relaxing meditative state of trance and see whether it is for you or not!

    Hi Diane,

This is a beautiful website. Your blog is informative and offers excellent guidance in how to select the right hypnotist. All, so very true. I am a Board Certified Hypnotist myself. People seeking that bargain many times also are not committed to the process. Thanks for being such a wonderful
example for all us who are true professionals.
